The holographic sticker present on the Computers as shown in the image has various anti-forgery and anti-tampering features. For instructions on how to downgrade properly, just contact your PC manufacturer. The OEM license of Windows 10 Pro allows the legal downgrade to a previous Pro version of Windows (Windows 7 Pro, Windows 8 Pro, Windows 8.1 Pro). Only System Builders can, through a national distributor, (list at the bottom of the article) have access to these types of contracts to integrate license keys on PCs.

It cannot be sold separately and the only way to have it is combined with a PC. For computers that are born with Windows 10, we find only a Microsoft holographic stamp of originality in front of the PC, without the license key. Often System Builders always use the same Windows 10 code (see DELL, ASUS, ACER etc.). These license keys are digital and integrated into the BIOS of the computer together with the serial of the PC. It is only used by System Builders with Microsoft.

The true OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) license is a license sold with the PC. When recently clean installing Windows I left the key blank but then signed in with my account and Windows recognised this install as legit. There is a lot of confusion about this license and it is often confused with the OEI license. What I did when I discovered that MS had rejected my key was to clean install Windows 7 that I did own a legit licence. At least MS has made it easy to change key in the future. You can buy one cheap and accept the fact that you may at some point buy another key. I really though I was getting a genuine key, it cost me £120 and came in genuine looking packaging. You might not get what you are expecting I bought what I thought was a legit key on Amazon, it came with the correct packaging and the USB key but instead of it being Windows 10 Home it was the educational edition and stopped working after around 6 months. The key may at some time in the future stop being recognised as active. The alternative is to buy one one the grey market. I have just checked and Windows Pro would cost me £149 and Home £119.99. Genuine? Microsoft directly from the Windows store or the Microsoft website.
